14th German–Italian Lawyers’ Seminar on Lake Como
The Frankfurt Bar Association, as a cooperating partner of the Milan Bar Association and the German-Italian Lawyers’ Association, hosted the 14th German–Italian Lawyers’ Seminar at Villa Vigoni on Lake Como from 9 to 10 May 2026.
Villa Vigoni is a German-Italian centre for scientific and cultural exchange and – it can hardly be described otherwise – a beautiful place where German and Italian academics and cultural professionals from a wide range of disciplines and faculties regularly meet for exchange (Villa Vigoni).
The German–Italian Lawyers’ Seminar has been held every two years for almost 30 years and is characterised by the fact that even complex topics are addressed in a highly practice-oriented manner, combined with intensive interaction between speakers and audience.
In addition to the classic topics of international commercial law, which focus in a comparative law perspective on entrepreneurial activity in the respective other country and were dealt with on the first day, the second day of the seminar was dedicated to a phenomenon that is even more prominently discussed in Italy than in Germany: femicide. Criminal law, criminal procedural law, family law, and general civil law aspects of compensation were addressed. Highly committed speakers met a particularly engaged audience, resulting in a lively and in-depth discussion.
The next German–Italian Lawyers’ Seminar will take place in May 2028. Regardless of the topics to be offered then, participation can be recommended to all colleagues – not least because of the opportunity to visit Villa Vigoni.
