On 14/10/2021, the last flight of Alitalia, the Italian airline that represented Italy in the world for 74 years, took place.

The historic Italian brand "Alitalia" had been offered for sale in September by the special administration of the former airline in a public tender, as requested by the European Commission. The starting price was 290 million euros.

The brand was bought for 90 million euros by Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA), the public company that replaced the airline Alitalia. The new company, which will be called ITA Airways, will be the only company allowed to use Alitalia's names and symbols, but from what has been read so far, the new airline intends to use only its new name and introduce new logos that are different from the previous ones.
