Warning: generative artificial intelligence is also invading LinkedIn

A recent press release on the website of the Italian Data Protection Authority informed users that, from 3 November, LinkedIn would be training its systems using the personal data of those who had not opted out.

According to the press release, from 3 November onwards, LinkedIn will use data from public posts by users of legal age — including posts, comments, captions, photos, and data relating to job offers or group activities — to train and improve its generative AI models.

LinkedIn considers this use to be in its legitimate interests, so users must deactivate the tool by objecting to the use of their data.

If individuals exercise their right to object before 3 November, all their personal information will be removed from LinkedIn's artificial intelligence training. If they exercise their right to object after that date, however, it will only affect content published subsequently and not content already online.

The press release also contains instructions on how to deactivate the tool.
