A ruling by the Ravenna Regional Court shows that even this can have its limits. There, a desperate mother stated that she was no longer willing to provide financial support for her 31-year-old son or allow him to continue living with her. The son already had his own income from employment but contributed neither financially nor through household chores (the mother: “He never cleans!”) to the shared household. Shortly before the court hearing, he also quit his job to take the wind out of his mother’s sails and to continue playing the “needy” card. The court, however, ruled in the mother’s favor and determined that, under these circumstances, there was neither a claim to financial support nor a right to continue living in the parental home. The Corriere della Sera speculates that the mother also wanted to act in her son’s best interest: It’s time to finally grow up! (Source: Corriere della Sera, Bologna edition, March 26, 2026).
